The Gauntlet Deepens

A tougher Endless Gauntlet, enemies that target your chains, and 28 new feats to chase.

These notes describe a testing build. RuneShift is not publicly released yet.

Enemies that aim at the chain you are building, an Endless Gauntlet that gets faster and hits harder the further you go, and 28 new feats to chase.

Enemies now aim at your chain

  • Most enemies now place their ice, fire and stone on the part of the board where your chain is resolving, rather than scattering it at random. Enemies that lay curses do the opposite, putting them as far from your chain as they can. Beasts still scatter.

A faster, deadlier Endless Gauntlet

  • The board speeds up the deeper you go : the window to set up a chain narrows and blocks fall harder, wave after wave.
  • Enemies hit as hard as they were built to. They had been landing at roughly half strength.
  • Enemies no longer turn invisible after a boss, showing a name plate with no monster under it.
  • Each zone’s board hazard now matches the zone you are fighting in. Ice only freezes your blocks in Niflheim; Muspelheim rains meteors and Jotunheim turns the bottom row to stone.
  • A meteor still in the air when a wave ends keeps falling instead of freezing and vanishing.
  • The charm offers hold for the whole week instead of changing every attempt.
  • Your best is tracked per week and agrees across your devices.
  • Backing out of the hero and relic pick returns you to the Gauntlet tab.

28 new feats

  • 28 new feats to chase, including a saga for every hero.
  • Deep chains, huge combos and massive hits award their feats the moment you earn them.
  • Clearing every realm with one hero now pays a Silver chest, and doing it on Hard pays a Platinum chest.

Charms now level up from playing

  • Clearing a realm adds experience to every charm you carried.
  • Platinum chests add experience to every charm they hand you, new ones included.
  • Wealthy, Rich and Tycoon now count the platinum you have earned in total rather than the amount in your purse, so spending no longer costs you progress. Rich and Tycoon move to 500 and 1000.
  • The elemental Focus charms are less dominant.

A clearer shop

  • The strip along the bottom says the items in it are yours, shows everything you are carrying, and gives sell prices in words.
  • Selling a charm is no longer hidden : you can trade one for rerolls from the main shop screen.

New sounds for chains and healing

  • Chains, combos and chain-combos each sound different.
  • Healing blocks have their own chime.

Bosses speak as they fall

  • Kill a realm’s boss and something answers over the body. Hrym, Múspelir and Thrym each have a last word, and none of them is really theirs.

Fixes

  • Frost Arrow no longer one-shots the enemies that freeze your board, and the ice it leaves behind is the ice it was not paid for.
  • Your damage breakdown now says what actually won the run, separating your hero’s ability from gear and board matches.
  • Keys bought without a connection were charged for and then lost once the game reconnected. Buying and opening chests offline now settle up correctly.
  • Defeated enemies leave the screen when they die instead of lingering.
  • Relic cards on the choose screen show their full stats, and relic upgrades now live on the card in run setup as well as the Codex. The upgrade button says why it is unavailable instead of doing nothing.
  • Hard mode says up front that it has no free retry.
  • Valkyrie’s Boon is legendary, comes one at a time, and can drop from enemies.
  • Threefold Oath’s card says what it does.
  • Echo warnings no longer run off the edge of the screen.
  • Expired challenge runs end themselves, and there are fewer chest reminders.
  • Realm clear fits long loadout names, shows bigger rewards, and animates in.
  • Backing out of a challenge’s charm select returns you to Challenges.
  • Charm, hero and glossary text now match what the game does.
